The National University Hospital and Chelvin Sng Eye Centre announced their partnership with Bot MD to launch Iris, the A.I. powered eyecare WhatsApp chatbot that will educate and prepare cataract patients and their caregivers about the medical condition, its treatment as well as post-operative care.
Patients who are enrolled onto the Bot MD Care Platform will receive infographics and videographics that explain about cataract surgery through the FAQ buttons in WhatsApp. The Bot is also trained to respond to the frequently asked questions (FAQ) that are typed into the WhatsApp chat with Iris.
Patients who have made their cataract surgery appointments can further ask Iris what they need to prepare for their surgery as well as how they should take care of their eye after surgery.
The Bot MD Care patient education and engagement platform has been used by clinical teams across Southeast Asia to reach over 10,000 patients. Notably, Bot MD partnered the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore, to introduce Angie, the ENGAGE Chatbot which vastly simplified the genetic counselling process to empower women at risk of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
